Cristo Rey Boston

At the beginning of this year I started volunteering for a catholic high school specialized in admitting underprivileged kids. I work with the business development director to look for corporate sponsors for their work-study program. If you are interested in finding out more about the program, please contact me! =)

Anyway, two weeks ago they had a networking event and asked me to be the photographer. To be honest, I was quite skeptical about how the pictures would turn out. As you all know I'm horrible at capturing people. I think it turned out just ok. People really are tough to catch, especially in indoor lighting. I think my best snaps are the ones not focused on people. LOL!

Details of this event will be published on a Boston local Spanish newspaper, El Mundo. Not sure which pictures they end up choosing to be published but I'm stoked to find out! =P

Black & White Philadelphia

(This is long overdue...)

Always want to create a travel/photojournalism type of thing to capture the essence of a place. The only problem is I'm not very good at capturing people and the people makes a huge part of the essence of a place. Nonetheless, here is my architectural report...

Benjamin Franklin's house in Philly:

The most distinctive architecture in Philly are the city hall and independence hall. I tried to stay away from the typical head on shot and went askew.

City Hall

Independence Hall

I have a fetish with abandoned buildings. It's their ruggedness that gives them a lot of texture and make for a striking picture.

This is where I had dinner on South Street, and South Street was certainly very interesting.

Philly is a rather artsy city. A lot of paintings on the sides of buildings, which I believe are called "murals".

Arts Bank, I suppose?

Moonlit Village

I wanted to share this picture from a photographer that I really like, David Nightingale. There's always a certain surrealism in his pictures that makes them seem somewhat fantasy-like even though they are of real objects and people.

In case you get bored of looking at Jibsy every single (freakin') day, have a look at my other favorite thing (person) in the world! =P

Red Slippers

Probably too late to say merry xmas so...

Happy New Year!!

Iron Horse Industrial Park, Billerica, MA 09.2009

Can't believe I didn't upload anything for the entire month of August. I was hoping to upload these to a brand new interface but that is still work in progress... In the meantime, these are my favorites from the trip.

Martha's Vineyard, MA 07.2009

Luv it when the sky ties in with the sea, feels like the edge of the world... ^_-

Beach Mania

Salisbury Beach, MA 07.2009

As promised, here are the highlights of my NE Roadtrip. Some of you might think the ones on facebook are better but I find these to be more interesting. I luv how the water in the sand reflects the sky. It seems as though people are walking on clouds...hehe... ^_-
(Make sure you click on the images to see them enlarged. It'll give more details.)

This one is slightly different from the other two. I wanted to focus on that pile of sand and have the sky as the background. But instead I focused on the edge of the water and captured a bikini girl in the background. I'm sure the guys will enjoy this. =P

More to come soon...stay tuned! ^___^

Laziness

Newbury St, Boston, MA 06.2009

Yes yes I know I've been REAL lazy with uploading pix and some of you have been asking for more pix (greatly appreciated btw!). I actually have a few to upload but my laptop has been misbehaving so for now, here's one... =)

Merry Maryland

Silver Spring, MD 05.2009

I spent this year's Memorial Day Weekend at a friend's family home in Maryland. We went to a nearby driving range and I came back with this...

Zarni took this one but I edited it so I guess it's combined effort. =P

I know I've been lazy about uploading pictures lately. Haven't been spending as much time with my baby as I should. But summer is here! Hopefully, I'll be exploring more new places and capturing more beautiful scenes.

New England Foliage Part III

A different route, a different scenery but same amazing colors...

D40 Debut!

What do you all think? Please leave a comment. Much appreciated! =)

Silence of the Night

Mass Ave Bridge 04.2009

9PM: Legs were tired from walking so debated whether I should take the bus to cross the river or walk across it. Something drove me to continue walking......

For the few minutes when there was no one in my immediate vicinity, I felt like I was the only one on the bridge. That surreal loneliness made me bring out my camera and start shooting away.

I have always enjoyed the solitary feeling of roaming around town late a night when everyone is asleep. One of these days I might sneak out at 3AM and snap more night shots. ^_-

A glimpse into my dSLR world

Sausalito, CA 2008

Peeking Through the Fences

No, I haven't got my Nikon d40 yet. Hopefully I'll receive it in the next couple days. This was taken with Dave's d60 last year when I went to visit SF. It was my first go at a dSLR. Took me 10 minutes and multiple shots to get this one. How did I do as a first timer? ^_-

Pre-Summer Fun

Carson Beach, MA 04.2009

Today was an extraordinarily good spring day. I headed to the beach with a few friends and came back with these...

I was obsessed with taking pictures of Kalai's shoes. They are so pretty!

There are no words to describe how much I luv this picture. This is the type of pictures that I have always wanted to take - simple yet striking and tells a story. This reduced sized one really doesn't do it justice... >_<
I luv this kid with the bright red outfit. He was my other obsession of the day. I couldn't stop snapping shots of him... =P

This is Angel! He was soooo cute. He came to ask us whether he could play baseball with us. We of course let him played and had a ton of fun with him. I guess we, twenty-something-year-olds, are still kids at heart. ^_-
